Julianne Nyhan is associate Professor of Digital Information Studies in the Department of Information Studies, UCL, where she leads the Digital Humanities MA/MSc programme. Nyhan is also Deputy Director of the UCL Centre for Digital Humanities (https://www.ucl.ac.uk/dh) and on the Leadership group of the UCL Centre for Critical Heritage (http://www.ucl.ac.uk/critical-heritage-studies). She has published widely on Digital Humanities and her work has been published into a number of languages, including Russian, Polish and Chinese. Her publications include the co-edited Digital Humanities in Practice (Facet 2012); Digital Humanities: a Reader (Ashgate 2013); Clerics, Kings and Vikings: essays on Medieval Ireland (2015) and (with Andrew Flinn) Computation and the Humanities: towards an Oral History of Digital Humanities Springer 2016. Next to CHEurope her funded research projects include a Leverhulme-funded collaboration with the British Museum on the manuscript catalogues of Sir Hans Sloane (https://tinyurl.com/y7zvrthm) and an ESRC-funded historical newspaper data mining project (http://oceanicexchanges.org/). She is now at work on a book about the overlooked and devalued feminized labour that underpinned the Index Thomisticus project of Roberto Busa, whence Digital Humanities is believed to have developed.
